    • There are a variety of ways to learn what courses are required for your major:
      • Talk to a faculty advisor in that major
      • Check out the UVI catalog
      • Locate that major’s paradigm on the UVI website
  • How do I make sure that I have satisfied all of the requirements for my major?
    • You must talk with your faculty advisor to make sure all of your graduation requirements are satisfied.
  • Is there a minimum grade for this course?
    • Many majors require a minimum of a C in courses for their major.  To know for sure, check the catalog or ask your advisor.
  • How can I improve my GPA?
    • The best and fastest way to improve your GPA is to repeat a class in which you earned a low grade.
  • What should I do if I am struggling in a class?
    • Find out if a tutor is available for that course
    • Visit the Learning Center
    • Visit with your faculty advisor or CSS Advisor to discuss your options and strategies for success
    • Keep in mind that there are strict deadlines for course withdrawal.  If you believe you are going to fail a course, do not just stop attending!  See your advisor to find out if you still have time to withdraw from the course and preserve your GPA.

    • Your faculty advisor is listed on Banweb.  You can also find out your faculty advisor’s name and information by calling your school or college or by calling the Center for Student Success.
  • What subjects can I get tutoring in?
    • You can get tutoring in MAT 23-24, ENG 100-201, SCI 100-200, SPA 131-132, FRE 131-132, BIO 141-142, CHE 151-152, PHY 241-242, CSC 117-118, NUR 104 and PSY 327.
  • What services are provided by the Center for Student Success?
    • We provide a variety of services including:
      • Individual and group tutoring for many 100 and 200 level courses
      • Various workshops for students who wish to improve or enhance academic skills and behaviors
      • Assistance for students who are on academic probation
      • Academic coaching
      • Academic advising
      • Career services referral
      • Writing Center services
      • Math and Science services
      • Test proctoring
      • Equipment loan services (laptop, projector, calculator)
      • Helping  student resolve complaints
  • Where is the Center for Student Success located?
    • The Center for Student Success is located on the first floor of the Classroom and Administration Building (CAB) in room 118 and CAB 101 on St. Thomas.  On the St. Croix campus, CSS is located in the Evans Center room 716
