UVI Board Approves New B.S. Degree in Physics, Fundraising Goals for 2016-2017 & Re-elects Trustees to the Board

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on Oct. 22, on the St. Thomas Campus, the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees approved a Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Physics with a concentration in astronomy. The new degree program will provide educational training and research opportunities for undergraduate students who wish to specialize in physics and/or astronomy and who may intend to pursue graduate studies. read more

VI Society of CPA’s to Present Accounting Scholarships to UVI Students

The Virgin Islands Society of Certified Public Accountants (VISCPA) will present two minority accounting scholarships for $2,000 each to University of the Virgin Islands accounting majors at its 2016 annual membership meeting on Friday, Nov. 4. The meeting is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be teleconferenced between the St. Thomas Campus and the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. read more

UVI-CES to Host World Food Day Hunger Banquet &Annual Competitions

The University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service (CES) will host its annual World Food Day “Hunger Banquet” on Friday, Oct. 14, on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus grounds, near the Great Hall on St. Croix. This event and experience will educate students in the territory from fourth through ninth grade on the challenges of poverty and world hunger first hand. Reef Fest 2016 to Focus on Marine Debris Education and Prevention

The Center for Marine and Environmental Studies (CMES) at the University of the Virgin Islands invites the community to celebrate the ocean environment at Reef Fest 2016. The eighth annual Reef Fest will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 12, ‘16 at Coral World Ocean Park. This year’s theme is “Marine Debris Education and Prevention,” which will highlight the various ways in which we can reduce our overall impact on the environment.
