Cupcakes and Condoms HIV Awareness Event Set for Nov. 4 on St. Thomas Campus

The UVI Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention Program will host “Cupcakes and Condoms,” from 2 – 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the Sports and Fitness Center Commuter Lounge on the St. Thomas Campus.

“Cupcakes and Condoms” is a signature program of “The Red Pump Project,” a non-profit organization that raises awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls.  This event puts a sweet spin on HIV/AIDS awareness leading up to National World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, 2015. UVI students are invited to attend.

Attendees will be treated to complimentary desserts while engaging in much-needed conversations around advocating for their bodies and taking the right steps to preventing the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STIs). At the event, students will have the opportunity to talk to health professionals and Student Peer Educators while engaging dialogue about HIV/AIDS and condom use. At this free event, there will be interactive and educational stations, demonstrations, entertainment, as well as an afternoon spent creating HIV awareness. To RSVP or for more information contact Alyssa C. Ryan at or (340) 693-1122. The UVI Substance Abuse and HIV/AIDS Prevention Program plans to host a number of events leading up to World AIDS Day, on Dec. 1, 2015.
