The University of the Virgin Islands has cancelled classes on both campuses following the passage of Hurricane Dorian. Essential UVI employees are asked to report in at their regular time on Thursday, Aug. 29. Non-essential employees are asked to report in at noon. ¬¬ read more

UVI Continues to Monitor Tropical Storm Dorian

The University of the Virgin Islands continues to monitor all activity associated with Tropical Storm Dorian. According to the National Hurricane Center’s 11 a.m. advisory, Tropical Storm Dorian is located at 14.2 north and 61.8 west with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour. Its present movement is at 13 miles per hour. There are no watches or warnings in effect for the U.S. Virgin Islands. read more

University of the Virgin Islands Student Selena Cuffy has been selected by the National Student Exchange (NSE) program for a Community Engagement Award for her academic accomplishments, social welfare service, contribution to the campus community, and creative use of time while on exchange. Cuffy’s award is one of the three awards under the NSE’s Student Achievement Awards. read more

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands Residence Hall Move-in Day for new students on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and on the St. Thomas Campus on Tuesday, Aug. 13. New Student Convocation will be held in the Great Hall on the Albert A. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), with assistance from the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVl) Department of Agriculture and the University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service (CES) is collecting Census of Agriculture data from all known farmers this summer. read more

The UVI Research and Technology Park (RTPark) announced on Tuesday its cross-promotion partnership with Brinc, an internationally recognized technology accelerator program, in an effort to build a global network of support for RTPark clients to tap into and expose international tech firms to the benefits and opportunities available in the Territory. The partnership with Brinc represents the RTPark’s first win to emerge from their East Asia trade mission this past March. read more

UVI 2019 Fall Semester Orientation Set for Aug. 13-18

The University of the Virgin Islands will welcome new and transfer students with a week of orientation activities beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13, on both the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and the St. Thomas Campus. Orientation activities will kick-off with residence hall check-in. All newly accepted students are required to participate in orientation activities prior to the start of the semester. read more

UVI Cybersecurity Workshop Prepares Students To Become Cyber Defenders

For two weeks, future computer science professionals learned the skills they will need to be on the frontlines of cyber based attacks. In a world where technology is quickly advancing before our very eyes, the risk of facing cyberattacks has drastically increased. Acknowledging this growing issue, the Computer Science Department at the University of the Virgin Islands, held a cybersecurity workshop, offered by guest lecturer Dr. Michel Kinsy of Boston University. read more
