UVI Class of 2020 Overcomes Overwhelming Odds - UVI Confers Over 300 Degrees

On May 12, the University of the Virgin Islands Office of the Registrar certified over 300 degrees for the Class of 2020. As a result of the Coronavirus, commencement ceremonies originally slated for May 2020 have been postponed. UVI’s Class of 2020 will walk across the stage and celebrate their Commencement in December 2020. Currently, students who have earned their degrees will receive their diplomas in the mail. read more

UVI Graduation Ceremonies Rescheduled to December 2020

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) announced that graduation ceremonies will be rescheduled from May to December to afford students the experience of a traditional commencement celebration. Ceremonies are scheduled to take place on Thursday, Dec.10, 2020 on St. Thomas, and Friday, Dec. 11, 2020 on St. Croix. The decision to postpone the events to December, in lieu of other options, was based on feedback from a survey of expected graduates conducted by the University. read more

Registration for Online Summer Courses at UVI Open - Summer Session I Starts on May 18

The University of the Virgin Islands announced classes for Summer Session 2020 will be held remotely, due to the uncertainty brought on by the COVID-19 Pandemic. UVI students are encouraged to register online and will be able to do all scheduled class meetings and assignments remotely. Some courses will be entirely online and concurrent. Classes will begin on May 18, for Summer Session I, and on June 25, for Summer Session II. read more

Personal protective gear is a scarce commodity, as the rapidly spreading Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) continues to wreak havoc the world over. read more

UVI to Extend Spring Break for Students & Transition to Online Learning

In light of the evolving coronavirus pandemic in the United States and globally, out of an abundance of caution and care for our UVI Community members, some of whom may be in high-risk groups, the University will extend Spring Break for students until Sunday, March 22, 2020, and transition to online learning for all graduate and undergraduate classes on Monday, March 23, 2020. read more

Mental Health Awareness Week Activities Set for March 23-27 at UVI

The University of the Virgin Islands’ Counseling and Career Services Office will host “Mental Health Awareness Week” from March 23-27, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Themed “Mental Health Awareness Week at UVI: Mental Health – Not a Stigma,” this awareness campaign seeks to foster greater awareness and provide education on the concern on mental health in the territory. read more

UVI Board of Trustees Approves FY 2021 Budget

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on March 7, on the St. Thomas Campus, the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees unanimously approved a Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations request of $40.2 million to cover the University’s operations and programs. read more
