UVI to Celebrate 57th Charter Day with VI Governor Bryan 100 Man March Planned

The University of the Virgin Islands is celebrating the 57th anniversary of its Charter this month with wide range of events. The University will host a Charter Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Gov. Albert Bryan, Jr.—the first Governor of the Virgin Islands to be a graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands – will be the keynote speaker. Gov. Bryan’s remarks will be video conferenced from the Sheen Campus to the first-floor conference room of the Administration and Conference Center Building on the St. Thomas Campus. ...read more

Greenleaf VI Donates $69,000 to Support UVI’s Simulation Center

The University of the Virgin Islands received yet another donation from Greenleaf VI II, Inc. in the amount of $69,000, at a check presentation ceremony held on the University’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on Wednesday, March 13. The donation will go toward funding the University’s Simulation Center. read more

MSNBC Television Host, Political Analyst & Author Joy-Ann Reid to Speak at UVI 2019 Commencement; Distinguished UVI Alumni to Receive Honorary Degrees

MSNBC national television host, political analyst, journalist, columnist and author Joy-Ann Reid will be the keynote speaker at the University of the Virgin Islands’ 2019 commencement ceremonies. Starting at 1 p.m., these ceremonies will take place on Thursday, May 16, on the campus grounds of the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and on Friday, May 17, at the Sports and Fitness Center on St. Thomas. read more

UVI Board of Trustees Approves New Tuition Pricing for Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, FY 2020 Budget & Grants Trustees Emeritus Status

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on March 2, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees unanimously approved new tuition pricing for selected members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States under terms of individual Memorandums of Understanding. read more

Alternative Spring Break Set for March 11 – 15

This Spring, University of the Virgin Islands students will get a chance to “Serve, Learn and Grow” during the third Annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB). From March 11 – 15, the ASB program will offer students the opportunity to become immersed in meaningful community service campaigns, forge new and lifelong lasting relationships, and become exposed to new and exciting experiences. read more

U.S. Virgin Islands High School Graduates Eligible for Free College Tuition at UVI

Beginning with the 2019-2020 academic year, students who have graduated from secondary school in the U.S. Virgin Islands will have one less concern about their college careers: tuition payments. That’s because the Territory has adopted legislation to provide financial aid for tuition to residents of the Virgin Islands for post-secondary education at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). read more

Agrifest 2019 Set for Feb. 16-18: “VI Agriculture: Still Growing in 2019”

The public is invited to attend the 48th Annual Agriculture and Food Fair of the Virgin Islands from Feb. 16-18 at the Rudolph Shulterbrandt Agricultural Complex, Estate Lower Love on St. Croix. The theme is “VI Agriculture: Still Growing in 2019!” The entrance fee is $6 for adults, $4 for children, and $5 for senior citizens. The fair will open daily from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., with the opening ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16. read more

On January 4, 2019 Governor Kenneth E. Mapp signed into law Act 8155, entitled the Virgin Islands Higher Education Scholarship program. This bill was introduced by Senator Tregenza Roach, who now serves as Lieutenant Governor, and was unanimously supported by the 32nd Legislature. read more
