Media Invited to Cover the Unveiling of the Campus Sign for the University of the Virgin Islands Orville E. Kean Campus

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands’ unveiling of the new sign bearing the campus’s new name -- the University of the Virgin Islands Orville E. Kean Campus -- on St. Thomas. The event will take place at 4:30 p.m. on June 3, at the University’s Information Kiosk, which is adjacent to the Upper Campus entrance overlooking the soccer field. The unveiling will take place at the UVI sign at the entrance to the upper campus. read more

The Caribbean Writer (TCW) Renews Call for Creative Work and Artwork for Volume 36 through the Online Portal

The Caribbean Writer (TCW) has issued a call for submissions for Volume 36 under the 2021 theme: “Disruption, Disguise, and Illuminations.” More and more, as history meets day-to-day experiences, epiphanies unfold, and, as we self-interrogate the disruption motifs in many of these illuminations, the roots of prevailing disruptions emerge, complicated by disguise. Writers are invited to offer for consideration creative works exploring this theme in its widest permutations. read more

UVI to Confer Over 300 Degrees Earned by 2021 Graduates

On Friday, May 14, the University of the Virgin Islands will confer over 300 degrees earned by graduates in the Class of 2021. An online ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. for graduates from the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas and the UVI extension campus, the University of St. Martin on St. Martin. Multiple social media sites will carry the event to include, UVI’s official YouTube channel, Facebook and Twitter pages. Links to these sites can be found on www.uvi.edu. “We are especially proud of our graduates as we celebrate their collective success and launch them into the world to make it better through the use of their skills, talents and expertise,” said UVI President Dr. David Hall. “While the current circumstances would not permit us to be together, the University is committed to providing an equally gratifying celebration to commemorate our students’ excellence.” read more

Jackeima Flemming was crowned Miss University of the Virgin Islands 2021-2022 at the 41st Annual Miss UVI Ambassadorial Virtual Competition held on Saturday, April 24, 2021, on St. Thomas after competing against three other contestants.   “I am absolutely elated and honored to have been crowned with the honorific title of goodwill ambassador to UVI. UVI’s VIUCEDD Executive Director Awarded Inaugural Disability & Disasters Award

Dr. Kimberly Mills, executive director for the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD), was awarded the Disability and Disasters Award by the Natural Hazards Center. University Deeply Disturbed by Alleged Sexual Assault - Will Continue to Cooperate with Police Investigation

The University of the Virgin Islands is deeply disturbed by an alleged sexual assault that was reported in the early morning hours of April 20, 2021. The alleged victim was taken to Juan F. Luis Hospital by UVI Security. The students involved in the incident had participated earlier in an unapproved on-campus party that ended around 3 a.m. read more
