UVI Board of Trustees Adopts Amended Sexual Harassment Policy & Approves 2021 Fundraising Goals

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, via Zoom, the University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt amendments to the University’s Sexual Harassment Policy. Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 is a federal law that states that no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal assistance. The Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI SBDC) appoints new Associate State Director. Karen Jones was recently selected from a distinguished group of candidates to serve as the Associate State Director of the VI SBDC. Ms. Jones is a graduate of Union College in Kentucky, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. read more

UVI Board of Trustees to Meet on October 24

The University of the Virgin Islands Board of Trustees will meet at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, via Zoom. Media instructions for participation will be shared via email. Once connected to the meeting, members of the media are required to mute their devices and turn off their cameras for the duration of the meeting. Members of the media are asked not to ask questions during the meeting. The University of the Virgin Islands will, for the first time, observe World Food Day virtually, with some physical events. The UVI School of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service invites the public to World Food Day events on Sunday, Oct. 18, on Zoom via 921 6461 0205. U.S. News & World Report Ranks UVI #7 Top Public School Among Southern Regional Colleges

In the much-anticipated release of its 2021 edition, U.S. News & World Report published its Best Colleges report this week ranking the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) number seven among the top U.S. public schools in the category of Regional Colleges in the southern region. Additionally, among all southern Regional Colleges, UVI ranked 36 and received a ranking of 36 on the Social Mobility measure. read more

UVICELL Partnership Provides Free Hospitality Training

UVI CELL in partnership with Diageo USVI and supported by Bellows International and the Virgin Islands Department of Labor are pleased to announce that registration is currently ongoing for the 2020 Learning Skills for Life program on St. Croix and St. Thomas. UVI Mourns the Loss of Baseball Legend Horace Clarke

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) joins the Virgin Islands community in mourning the death of baseball legend Horace Clarke, who died last Wednesday at the age of 82. Born in St. Croix, Clarke rose to national prominence as a professional baseball player with the New York Yankees and the San Diego Padres. read more

Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands’ virtual AgDiscovery Summer Program Closing Ceremony, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., on Friday, July 31, 2020. AgDiscovery is a summer outreach program designed to help teenagers explore careers in plant and animal science, wildlife management, agribusiness, and much more! The program allows students to learn about agriculture from university professors, scientists, and administrative professionals who work for the U.S. Government in a variety of fields. read more
