Children learn about Marine Life with the Youth Ocean Explorers Program

UVI’s Youth Ocean Explores to Expand Program Thanks to Donation - Tropical Shipping & Saltchuk Gift to Enlighted Hundreds of VI Youth

February 16, 2018 - Each summer the Youth Ocean Explorers (YOE) Program educates middle school and high school youth about the marine ecosystems that surround the territory. Coral reefs and vital marine habitats come to life when students explore the marine environment and hear from leading experts working in eco fields. Thanks to a $18,500 donation from Tropical Shipping and their parent company, Saltchuk, more VI youth will be able to learn about the marine environment and possible marine careers in the industry. February 15, 2018 - The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is hosting a pre-screening event of "Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities.” This thought provoking 90-minute documentary was written, directed and produced by award-winning documentary filmmaker Stanley Nelson. In addition to the enormous educational contributions these institutions have made to this society, their students and faculty have served, and continue to serve, as a catalyst for social reforms that make equality and justice a closer reality, though still an elusive ideal.Read More

Three UVI Students to Benefit from Alpine Securities Scholarships

February 12, 2018 - Three University of the Virgin Islands students majoring in accounting, finance or computer information systems will benefit from a generous donation from Alpine Securities USVI, LLC. January 31, 2018 - The Board of Directors of the RTPark Corporation has announced that Dr. Gillian Marcelle, the current Executive Director, whose three-year term ended on Dec. 31, 2017, will not accept the offer to renew her contract for another three-year term. The RTPark is a specialist economic development agency, which is an autonomous component unit of the Government of the U.S. Virgin Islands, operating under policy guidance from the University of the Virgin Islands.Read More

January 12, 2018 - Spring semester classes at the University of the Virgin Islands are scheduled to begin on Monday, Jan. 22. Online registration for continuing UVI students is available, with access through the University’s BanWeb registration and student information portal.
