Margaret Mead Film Festival Set for March 24

March 20, 2018 - The Communication program of the University of the Virgin Island presents the 5th annual Margaret Mead Film Festival. This year the films all come to the Festival from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Student “Oscars.” These are the best films of the year as judged by the “Oscars” committee and are mostly on Afrocentric topics. The program will be from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24. They will be shown in the Communication classrooms – on the St. Thomas Campus in Penha House Studio four and on St. Croix in Evans Center Room 304. Admission is free. The total time is 2.6 hours. VI-EPSCoR Coral Reef Research Scientist Appointed to National Academic Science Committee

March 15, 2018 - The National Academies of Sciences Committee has appointed Virgin Islands Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR) lead Coral Reef Researcher, Dr. Tyler Smith, to serve on the committee. Dr. Smith, a University of the Virgin Islands associate research professor of Marine Science, will be a part of a study on coral reef resilience. Formed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, the committee is tasked with conducting a study titled, “Interventions to Increase the Resilience of Coral Reefs.”Read More

CFVI & UVI CERC Announce Launch of Post-Hurricane Assessment of Impacts on Children & Families of the USVI

March 14, 2018 - The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI), through an Agreement with the Caribbean Exploratory Research Center at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVICERC), has initiated an assessment to determine the status of children in the US Virgin Islands post hurricanes Irma and Maria. The assessment, a project that will be managed through CFVI’s USVI KIDS COUNT Initiative, will take place over the next six months and will include several best practice approaches to determine the health, education, human services, and housing status and needs of children and families in the US Virgin Islands during this post-hurricane period.Read More

UVI Call Center Tele-Fundraising Drive Resumes March 12 - Alumni Urged to Sign up for Birthday Club Prizes
