Greeting Bucs Life Family,
Welcome to the second issue of the Bucs Life Newsletter! Our collective efforts and shared commitment to excellence have led to many memorable events and achievements that highlight the spirit and dedication of our community. The University had the distinct pleasure of hosting numerous events, bringing together the UVI family and the community to connect, reminisce, and celebrate their enduring ties to UVI.
- The Office of Institutional Advancement (OIA) hosted alumni soirees on each of our campuses, bringing together alumni. These gatherings have reinforced the strong bonds within our Buccaneer family and reminded us of the far-reaching impact of our alumni network.
- OIA also hosted the 32nd Annual Afternoon on the Green which raised funds to support the Edward Thomas Scholarship Fund. This cherished tradition not only celebrates our rich cultural heritage but also ensures that future generations of students can achieve their academic dreams through scholarship support.
- The University was honored to host the 2nd Annual 13D Business Leadership Lecture, featuring the renowned speaker, David Roberts. His insights and expertise provided invaluable perspectives to our students and community, inspiring future business leaders.
- Another highlight was the Special Student Convocation, where we had the privilege of welcoming United States Senator, Reverend Raphael Warnock. His powerful message of resilience and service resonated deeply with all in attendance, further igniting our commitment to making a positive impact in our communities.
- Finally, our 60th Commencement Exercises were a momentous occasion, marking the conferral of over 250 degrees. This milestone was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff, and a celebration of the academic excellence that defines UVI.
The University has so many reasons to celebrate, but we couldn’t have done it without you. I am profoundly grateful for the unwavering support of our alumni, supporters, and friends of UVI. Your generosity in providing scholarships and supporting initiatives helps shape our students and propels the University forward.
Warm regards,
Dr. Pamela Moolenaar Wirsiy
Interim Vice President of Institutional Advancement
