Maria Fleming has been with the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) for more than
20 years. She has held many administrative positions in areas dealing with students,
an area she is truly passionate about. She advises pre-nursing students on the Albert
A Sheen campus, in conjunction with the School of Nursing. She believes that the first
‐ year experience for students should enable them to build a solid foundation for
success, not only at the UVI, but also throughout their lives. Her students are more
than just students to her, they are family.
