About this Program

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Minor in Dance develop professional techniques while exploring global art and social commentary.

Minor in Dance

The Minor in Dance affords students the opportunity to learn about Dance as a complement to their chosen major or to develop their independent interest in this area.  
  1. Students will be able to summarize the role of dance and dance practitioners in 
    society.  
  2. Students will be able to demonstrate the basic fundamental movements of Ballet 
    through performance.  
  3. Students will be able to demonstrate the basic movements of Afro Caribbean Dance 
    through performance.
  4. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding about dance through course 
    work, research and exposure to professionals and scholars in the field of modern and 
    contemporary dance around the globe; combined with opportunities both on and off 
    campus.  
  5. The students will be able to execute the fundamentals of Dance Improvisation, Dance 
    Composition and Choreography through performance. 

Student music complete (with a grade of C or higher) 22-23 credits from the Dance Minor.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance

Music, Theatre, and Dance are disciplines in the Arts that are inherently related aesthetically. These disciplines teach students life skills and allow students to experience the world in a different way. As such, the Bachelor of Fine Arts program will allow students to study art from around the world, see how art reflects the current world through the creation of social commentaries, and develop an appreciation for diversity.  Students who enroll in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance will learn about Dance while developing their professional technique!

Interested students must follow the entrance requirements for the university.  In addition, fine arts entrance requirements must be satisfied one (1) week before classes begin. Please contact the dance faculty to schedule an appointme

Fine arts majors are required to earn a minimum grade of “C” in all required fine arts courses.
