The Social Work major at the University of the Virgin Islands provides an array of
courses that cover the areas that have been identified as essential competencies for
social workers by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
At the end of their senior year, students are assessed on their knowledge of the ten
core competencies identified by the CSWE.
It is expected that students will be able to perform at the generalist level of social
work practice at the completion of their social work program of study.
