Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
Full-time employees on regular appointments in the Executive, Administrative/Managerial, Teaching Faculty, Research faculty, and Professional Staff classifications are eligible to participate in the Long-Term Disability program at the end of one year of employment. The University pays the full cost of this benefit at this time.
Benefits begin on the first day of the month after six months of continuous disability and continue during the period of continuous disability based on age at the start of the disability.
GERS retirement program participants with at least nine years of credited service who become permanently disabled are eligible for disability retirement.
