About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Islands is advising new and returning students, staff, and faculty to review UVI’s Emergency Preparedness Plan. The University has developed a series of policies and procedures that are designed to ensure that appropriate precautionary measures are taken to protect all persons on campus.
See this direct link to the University’s Emergency Preparedness Plan.
UVI is committed to alerting the university community about both immediate dangers and ongoing threats and providing you with information and tools to help you stay safe.
In the event of an emergency, UVI will use its emergency notification platforms to communicate vital information. This may include MyCampus and social media posts such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as Bucs Alert.
All UVI students and employees are urged to sign up for Bucs Alert, UVI’s Rave emergency notification system which is used to share critical information via text messages and e-mail. To sign up simply add a cell phone number and e-mail address to the “Personal Information” page in UVI’s BanWeb accounts. Those who have already added information to the system are encouraged to periodically check their details in case updates are needed.
Additional instructions on signing up for Rave are available from this direct link. UVI maintains a strong commitment to campus safety. The safety and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors are of primary concern. A professionally trained campus security force, residence life staff, faculty, and staff, will work to ensure that the UVI community is protected.
