About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
New students are invited to begin the new year with a bang at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) 2022 Spring Semester Orientation to be held via Zoom on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Orientation activities for students enrolled on both campuses start at 9:30 a.m. and continue until noon. Students will have the opportunity to meet instructors and other students, attend virtual campus tours, and learn more about UVI and its many resources, clubs and initiatives. Orientation is required for all new and transfer students.
“New Student Orientation promises to be engaging and filled with pertinent information to guide students through their two or four-year academic journey,” said Hedda Finch-Simpson, dean of students on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. “Our UVI Buccaneer family is dedicated to your education and overall development as a student. Your future is bright, and we thank you for choosing UVI as your first stop on your path to higher education.”
“We are looking forward to welcoming all new students and to ensuring everyone receives the information and resources to get off to a great start this semester,” said Verna Rivers, dean of students on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas. “As we all continue to navigate the challenges caused by Covid-19, UVI is here to support you holistically from providing financial, academic, as well as health and wellness support so that you can be a successful student.”
A new student convocation ceremony will be held via Zoom on Friday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. to formally welcome students to the University.
