About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The Caribbean Green Technology Center (CGTC) of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and the VI Energy Office (VIEO) are hosting the First ever Energy Village, themed “Accelerating Resilience” at Agrifest 2024 at the Rudolph Schulterbrandt Agriculture Grounds on St. Croix from Feb. 17-19.
The Energy Village will provide an opportunity for the general public to learn everything about energy management, renewable energy, and the various technologies and habits they can use to increase their energy security. Visitors will have a unique opportunity to meet one-on-one with various professionals and subject matter experts on solar energy, back-up storage, E-mobility, hazard mitigation, climate change, ask all the questions they have, and receive all the answers they need. This event is a great opportunity to learn how our homes can be more resilient.
Live demonstrations and simulations will showcase electric vehicles and solar power, new research avenues, tsunami and coastal hazard mitigation, and many other technologies and approaches available to USVI people.
