The gold standard in Prehospital Trauma education and Life Support (PHTLS) is the premier continuing education program developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT). Recognized globally, PHTLS is the gold standard in prehospital trauma education and is taught in over 80 countries.

The PHTLS course uses case studies, skills practice, and patient simulations to emphasize the application of medical principles. It covers the appropriate treatment of multi-system trauma patients and includes the following topics:

  • Physiology of life and death
  • Scene assessment
  • Patient assessment
  • Hemorrhage control
  • Airway management
  • Breathing, ventilation, and oxygenation
  • Circulation and shock management
  • Special populations

  • Includes: PHTLS hybrid training course (online component + in-person hands-on skills training)

PHTLS is ideal for EMTs, paramedics, nurses, physician assistants, physicians, and other prehospital practitioners. The course is accredited by CAPCE and recognized by NREMT for recertification requirements.
