About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) University Bound (UB) Program is pleased to announce the launch of its FREE SAT Prep Program for primarily junior and senior high school students attending public, private, and parochial schools on St. Croix.
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities
to make admissions decisions. The test measures a student's readiness for college
and provides schools with one common data point used to compare all applicants. Although
some colleges and universities have recently transitioned to making the exam optional
for admissions, the standardized test is still used to gauge students’ readiness for
college-level math and English courses, giving them the ability to go directly into
college-level courses and opening doors for more scholarship options.
The goal of the program is to help improve their performance on the standardized test
by familiarizing them with the test, equipping them with test-taking strategies, augmenting
their overall test-taking skills, and providing techniques to reduce test anxiety
and build confidence.
The program is made possible by a generous donation from Territory East Asset Management and is administered by the University Bound Program. Students participating in the program will meet on Saturdays for ten weeks on the Albert A. Sheen Campus of the University of the Virgin Islands.
The priority deadline to register is Saturday, February 8, 2025.
Space in the program is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
