Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands Renaming Ceremony for the Sports and Fitness Center on Friday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.
The center will be named in honor of Elridge Blake, a Virgin Islander whose extraordinary sports and athletic achievements span decades and continents. He also served the Virgin Islands community as an enthusiast of the sports as a volleyball player, coach, mentor and specialized trainer in the field of fitness.
University President Dr. David Hall and other dignitaries will offer remarks and the event will be live-streamed and in person.
