Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands College of Science and Mathematics 24th Annual Fall Student Science Research Symposium, “A STEM Show and Tell.” It will take place this Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. in the UVI 13D Research and Strategy Innovation Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.

This Symposium is organized and hosted by the Emerging Caribbean Scientists program which facilitates our students’ participation in research supported by funding from several sources, including the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).  Students have conducted research with UVI scientists on island as well as scientists at other universities and research centers across the U.S. They have worked over a summer and throughout the academic year. For undergraduates, this work is in addition to their normal classes and so it requires true dedication. For graduate students, this work is part of their academic program and represents the advances in knowledge in their fields that they are making.

The UVI community, family and friends are invited to this symposium where the highlight will be the students discussing their work with attendees.
