New and transfer students at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) are invited to kick off the new year and the 2023 Spring Semester with orientation sessions and a convocation ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 5. Designed to prepare students for a successful semester, orientation activities for students enrolled on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas start at 8 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. Students will have the opportunity to meet instructors and other students, tour the campus, learn more about UVI and its many resources, clubs and initiatives and register for classes. Orientation for students enrolled on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix will be held virtually starting at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom. Attendance is required for all new and transfer students.

“We are excited to welcome new students this spring and promise engaging and informative activities during the orientation sessions to help students get off to a great start,” said Dr. Pamela Moolenaar-Wirsiy, dean of Innovation and Student Success and interim vice president of Enrollment Management. “As you begin your journey with UVI, we want to officially welcome you to the UVI family and provide you with all the resources you’ll need to be successful.”

To cap off the day’s activities, a new student convocation ceremony will be held via Zoom at 5:30 pm to formally welcome students to the University. “You won’t want to miss this special ceremony that will inspire and motivate you to reach your higher education and life goals,” said Dr. Moolenaar-Wirsiy. “We invite families to join in the celebration.”
