About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Island (UVI) has canceled the remainder of the 2022-2023 women’s basketball schedule.
The Bucs were 0-5 this season and last played on Nov. 4, in the UVI HBCU Basketball Classic. The season had to be canceled due to a number of injuries as well as some ineligible players for the second semester.
“It is an unfortunate situation that we are dealing with and we had to make the tough decision to cancel the rest of the women’s basketball season here at the University of the Virgin Islands,” said Henville Pole, Interim Director of Athletics at the University of the Virgin Islands. “We look forward to building our roster size up over the coming months and being back for the 2023-’24 season.”
To that end, UVI has tapped Men’s Head Coach, Shannon Taylor, as the Interim Women’s Head Coach while the University begins the search to replace Coach Lynika Collins, who recently separated from the University.
