About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
Junior guard Jordan Carter secured the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) first regular-season Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) honor as she captured the GCAC Newcomer of the week award.
The award is only available to freshmen and transfer students who are new to the conference. Carter was selected from a pool of nominees as the winner of this award by the conference voting committee on Monday.
Carter scored a game-high 22 points against SUNO in a hotly contested conference matchup. She had two assists and four steals in the Lady Bucs’ Saturday matchup.
The 5-foot-5 guard is a two-way player who leads the team offensively scoring 13 points per game while leading the conference in steals per game with 3.2.
