The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL) is excited to announce its collaboration with the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services for the upcoming Level Up Conference. The event is aimed at engaging 11th and 12th grade students and providing them with the necessary tools to prepare for a successful transition from high school to full participation in their communities.

Previously known as the “Man Up Conference,” the newly named Level Up Conference aims to support both young men and women in the community. The conference will be held on April 3rd, 2023, for young men and April 4th, 2023, for young ladies at the UVI Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. The day will begin with a pep rally style welcome, featuring local sororities and fraternities, allowing students to create a positive image of a college experience and develop connections with like-minded individuals.

The event will include a panel discussion involving community members who can relate to the current needs of young people. Following the panel discussion, students will participate in breakout sessions where they can explore various topics to help tools, prepare for the transition from high school to post-secondary education, careers, jobs, and entrepreneurship. Students will have the opportunity to visit exhibits and tables to gain additional information and resources relating to their interest.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services for the Level Up Conference," said Dr. Latashia Edwards, UVI CELL community engagement manager. "Together, we can make a greater impact on the lives of the students who will be the future leaders of the Virgin Islands. We look forward to seeing them at the conference."
