About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL) along with the Virgin Islands Department of Health, the Department of Human Services and Digital Lending Innovation are proud to announce the upcoming Women's Health Forum, dedicated to empowering and educating women aged 40 and older about their health and well-being. The forum will take place on May 18, 2024, at 9 a.m. in the University of the Virgin Islands’ Medical Simulation Center on St. Croix.
The Women's Health Forum aims to address the unique health needs and challenges faced by women as they age. From managing chronic diseases to promoting nutrition, physical activity, and regular health screenings, the forum will provide valuable information and resources to help women thrive at 40 and beyond.
"We recognize the importance of prioritizing women's health, especially as women navigate the vibrant journey of life beyond 40," said Dr. Latashia Edwards, Community Engagement Manager at UVI CELL. "Our goal with this forum is to empower women with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being."
The forum will feature a diverse range of activities, including panel discussions with experts in women's health, nutrition workshops, physical activity demonstrations, and information sessions on health screenings and preventive care. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with local health organizations, clinics, and support groups to access additional resources.
The Women's Health Forum is a free event, open to all women aged 40 and older in the community. For more information about the Women's Health Forum, please contact Dr. Latashia Edwards at (340) 692-4112.
