About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Islands conveys condolences to the friends, family, and loved ones on the death of Pamela Richards, who passed away on Friday, May 24.
Richards’ connection to UVI stems from being the daughter of the University's second president, Dr. Arthur A. Richards. She also attended UVI and served as Interim Chief of Staff under University President, Dr. David Hall. “The Virgin Islands has lost a true servant of the people, whose love showed through the work she did for the people of this territory,” Dr. Hall said. “Pamela was truly committed to her work. She was a very brilliant, thoughtful person, who understood government and the University benefitted from her knowledge in this area,” said Dr. Hall, reflecting on her time at the University. “On behalf of the University community, I offer sincere condolences to her husband and broader family.”
Richards served in several prominent leadership positions in the territory to include Tourism Commissioner, Executive Director of the Legislature, Vice President and Chairman of the Caribbean and Tourism Association and she was also a business owner operating her bookstore 340 in Crown Bay.
