About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
UVI Caribbean Green Technology Center Safety in Paradise is very excited to invite you to participate in free safety trainings for Heat & Cold Stress Prevention to be held on the UVI St. Croix campus on July 9 th and St. Thomas campus on July 11th.
Facilitated by Safety Consultant, Rachel González of Georgia Tech Safety, Health & Environmental Services (SHES) and funded by a Susan Harwood Grant, these free 4.5 hours-long training sessions will focus on Temperature Extremes in the Workplace for Employers and Workers in Manufacturing, Construction, and Maritime Industries.
These free courses will highlight how to identify, respond to, and prevent heat and cold stress disorders in the workplace. A particular emphasis will be placed on the prevention of heat stress. The courses will be beneficial for workers and those with supervisory and/or managerial oversight over persons whose work tasks make them most vulnerable to temperature extremes.
Training sessions will be in person, with a virtual participation option. Training materials and course content will be offered at no cost to interested participants.
