About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is pleased to announce a generous gift of $10,000 from ClasseDesignUSA, LLC. ClasseDesignUSA, LLC, is a veteran-owned small business located in the greater Houston area. The company delivers cloud technology solutions to its clientele and has been providing services to the University since 2018. The $10,000 contribution will support the educational journey of a sophomore student who demonstrates academic excellence and a commitment to the field of psychology. The funds will cover tuition, fees, and room and board for the academic year, ensuring that the recipient can fully focus on their studies and professional development.
"We are incredibly grateful for this thoughtful donation," said UVI Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Dr. Pamela Moolenaar-Wirsiy. "It is through the generosity of donors like Hank Wojteczko that we can continue to provide exceptional educational opportunities to our students. This scholarship will make a significant impact in the life of one of our psychology students, allowing them to pursue their academic and career goals with reduced financial burden."
The Psychology program at UVI is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and mental processes. With a strong emphasis on research, critical thinking, and practical application, the program prepares graduates for a variety of careers in mental health, research, education, and other related fields.
“There is an acute shortage of mental health professionals within Westernized nations,” said ClasseDesignUSA Founder, Hank Wojteczko. “Within the United States, 23% of all adults have mental illness and nearly half do not receive treatment. Even though behavioral health needs are increasing, the number of individuals receiving behavioral health services has not. Speaking as a trauma survivor, I hope our donation to this prestigious program at the University will help shed light on the challenge I and others face in obtaining care. It is also my sincerest hope that this gift will inspire other businesses and individuals to come together to help solve this most pressing challenge,” continued Wojteczko.
“The University of the Virgin Islands extends its heartfelt thanks to ClasseDesignUSA for their generosity and commitment to higher education,” said Dr. Moolenaar-Wirsiy. “This scholarship not only provides financial support but also serves as a testament to Mr. Wojteczko’s belief in the power of education to transform lives and communities.”
