LaMonee Morris, University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) ambassador, will proudly represent the University as Miss UVI 2024-2025 at the highly anticipated 39th Annual National Black College Queens Competition. This prestigious event will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of the Alumni Hall of Fame weekend from Sept. 22 to 29.

Morris, a 21-year-old junior majoring in psychology, embarked on her journey to Atlanta yesterday, eager to showcase her talents and represent UVI on a national stage. As an ambassador of the university, she aims to embody the vibrant culture of the UVI and the Virgin Islands, bringing to life the essence of the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the Caribbean.

Morris is a passionate culture bearer, and her platform as Miss UVI is "Keeping Virgin Islands Culture Alive Through HBCU Pride." She has been actively promoting this cause through her involvement in two organizations: the UVI Cultural Titans and UVI Twirlettes.

The UVI Cultural Titans initially began as a mocko jumbie workshop, providing Morris with a unique opportunity to engage and interact with local and international university students. Through this initiative, she educates participants about the art of stilt walking and its profound connection to Virgin Islands culture. Additionally, Morris serves as the captain of the UVI Twirlettes, a group that performs at various university events, further showcasing the vibrant spirit of the UVI community.

Morris follows in the footsteps of exceptional Miss UVI ambassadors who have left an indelible mark on the institution. Notably, Elisa Thomas (2014), Che' Raina Warner (2016), and Jackeima Flemming (2021) have all been crowned Miss National Black Alumni Hall of Fame, solidifying UVI's legacy of excellence.
