Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the official Investiture Ceremony University of the Virgin Islands President Dr. Safiya George, on Monday, March 17, at 10 a.m. in the Elridge Wilbur Blake Sports and Fitness Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas and live streamed to UVI Facebook and YouTube pages. A viewing area will be set up in UVI’s Cafeteria on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.
The UVI Board of Trustees named Dr. Safiya George the 6th president of the University of the Virgin Islands in February 2024. Dr. George, the first alumna president, began her tenure at UVI on August 1, 2024.
The general public is invited to take part in this auspicious occasion as the University moves forward to a new day for our students and their rise in educational advancement.
