The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Voices of Inspiration Community Choir (VIOCC) is proud to announce the return of its Dare to Be Empowerment Initiative on Sunday, March 23, at 5 p.m. in the Great Hall at UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. This year’s theme, "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made," is designed to inspire students to recognize their intrinsic value, build confidence, and step boldly into their purpose.
“Dare to Be is more than just an event—it’s a movement aimed at empowering students to aim higher, stretch further, and trust that they can achieve more than they ever imagined,” said VOICC Director Josephine Thomas-Lewis. “Our goal is to inspire the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers right here in the Virgin Islands.”
Through dynamic presentations, interactive activities, and inspirational messages, students between the ages of 12 – 21 will be encouraged to embrace their full potential despite the challenges they may face. This initiative also directly addresses the growing concerns of low self-esteem and bullying, which can significantly impact a student’s motivation, academic performance, and personal growth. By fostering resilience, self-worth, and a sense of belonging, Dare to Be equips students with the tools they need to navigate challenges with confidence and determination.
In addition to empowerment and personal growth, this year’s Dare to Be will also focus on encouraging students to pursue higher education and explore the opportunities available at UVI. Representatives will share valuable insights about academic programs, scholarships, campus life, and resources that can help students achieve their educational and career goals.
