Dr. Colvin T. Georges, Jr., dean of students at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, has been recognized as a Stellar50 Honoree by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Black Diaspora Knowledge Community (BDKC). This prestigious recognition celebrates Dr. Georges’ commitment to student affairs, leadership, and championing equity and inclusion in higher education.
The NASPA BDKC Stellar50 Award honors leaders who have devoted at least five years to student affairs and have made a meaningful impact in professional development, engagement, equity, inclusion, social justice, research and scholarship.
Expressing his gratitude for this recognition, Dr. Georges stated: “I am deeply honored to represent UVI on a national platform, particularly in the field of Student Affairs. This work is critical in ensuring that all students, particularly those from underrepresented communities, have access to support, mentorship, and opportunities that empower their success.”

A native of St. Thomas, Dr. Georges has served as Dean of Students for the Albert A. Sheen campus, since September 2023. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Policy, Organization and Leadership with an emphasis in higher education from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from New York University, a Master of Business Administration from the New York Institute of Technology, and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Family and Child Sciences and Sociology from The Florida State University.
The NASPA Black Diaspora Knowledge Community is a vital network that promotes awareness, knowledge-sharing, and development for Black professionals in higher education. The BDKC focuses on mentorship, research and addressing challenges faced by Black students, faculty and administrators. Through its regional and national initiatives, the BDKC creates a supportive community that amplifies the voices and contributions of Black leaders at the tertiary level.
