Reichhold Center for the Arts flyer for The Fearkeeper Premiere

The University of the Virgin Islands’ Reichhold Center for the Arts (RCA) invites the community to experience suspense, bravery, and creative storytelling at this year’s Youth Moviemaking Workshop (YMW) premiere of “The Fearkeeper,” debuting Saturday, July 26, at 6 p.m. in the Elridge W. Blake Sports and Fitness Center on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.

In this year’s thrilling short film, a harmless dare turns terrifying when five students find themselves trapped overnight in a former asylum-turned-school haunted by the sinister Fearkeeper—a creature that feeds on fear itself. As mysterious giggles echo through the corridors and their darkest nightmares take form, the students must confront their deepest fears and unite in order to survive. “The Fearkeeper” is a spine-chilling tale of courage, teamwork, and the power of facing what scares us most.

Directed by Gabriella J. Munzar, this year’s film features a talented cast of young creatives, including E'Leyah Gordon, Kailey LaPlace, Nathaniel Moses, Anna Sophia Munzar, and Bella Lima, with Elijah Ready serving as Director of Photography. Supporting the production behind the scenes were Diego Lima and Delilah Craig, who worked diligently to bring the film to life through various aspects of creation and production.

The screening marks the culmination of the Reichhold Center’s annual seven-week Youth Moviemaking Workshop, a hands-on digital media program designed to educate, empower, and inspire students ages 11–16 in the fundamentals of filmmaking. Participants gain experience in screenwriting, camera operation, editing, directing, and production—culminating in the creation of an original short film showcased in a celebratory red-carpet premiere.

“’The Fearkeeper’ is a testament to the creativity and resilience of our youth,” said RCA Director Denise Humphrey. “This program is about more than just film—it’s about building confidence, collaboration, and a sense of purpose through storytelling. We’re proud to share their hard work and vision with the community.”

The event is free and open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend in support of the territory’s budding filmmakers.

The Youth Moviemaking Workshop is presented by the Reichhold Center for the Arts and funded in part by the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
