St. Thomas location becomes authorized Pearson VUE testing center, bringing more professional credentialing opportunities closer to home
Virgin Islanders pursuing professional certifications and career advancement now have access to even more testing opportunities without leaving the Territory.
The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL) has expanded its professional testing services with the designation of its St. Thomas location as an authorized Pearson VUE testing center.
The new designation gives residents greater local access to professional certification, licensure, academic and workforce examinations that can open doors to new careers and advancement opportunities. Through Pearson VUE, candidates can take examinations supporting careers in information technology, healthcare, business, finance and numerous other professional fields. Exam availability varies by testing program and testing center.
“This is an exciting milestone for UVI CELL and the Virgin Islands community,” said UVI CELL Senior Program Manager Ayopha Stalliard. “Becoming an authorized Pearson VUE testing center allows us to continue expanding opportunities for individuals seeking to advance their education, careers and professional credentials without having to travel outside the Territory.”
For Virgin Islands residents, greater access to professional testing can mean significant savings in both time and money. Examinations that might otherwise require airfare, accommodations and time away from work or family can now be available closer to home.

Together, these partnerships are helping UVI CELL develop a comprehensive local testing resource for individuals pursuing professional certifications, occupational licenses, aviation credentials, academic assessments and other qualifications needed to enter or advance in the workforce.
UVI CELL is also actively working to make Pearson VUE testing available on St. Croix, extending the benefits of expanded professional testing access across the Territory.
“Expanding access to testing is ultimately about expanding access to opportunity,” Stalliard said. “Every credential earned can help someone qualify for a new position, advance in their profession or build a stronger career right here in the Virgin Islands. That benefits the individual, our employers and the Territory’s workforce.”
The expansion reflects UVI CELL’s broader commitment to workforce development by helping reduce barriers between Virgin Islanders and the credentials required for high-demand careers. Through training, certification preparation and testing, CELL is creating more opportunities for residents to build skills, earn recognized credentials and contribute to the economic growth of the Territory.
