About
Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) at the University of the Virgin Islands
(UVI) is one of the 54 water resources research institutes established at land-grant
universities throughout the United States and its territories.
WRRI was established in 1973 and operates under the Water Resources Research Act of
1984 as amended by Public law 101-397. Like other water resources research institutes,
it receives partial federal funding provided through the U.S. Geological Survey. Additional
funding is provided by UVI and through contractual projects. WRRI is a part of the
Research and Public Service component of the University.
