The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) held the grand opening of its 13D Research and Strategy Innovation Center today on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is proud to announce that its Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (CELL) has been awarded a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to offer drone and flight training.

Members of the media are invited to cover the grand opening of the University of the Virgin Islands’ 13D Research and Strategy Innovation Center on Monday, April 17, at 10 a.m. on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas. The building is located at the site of the former West Bay Supermarket.

The University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Caribbean Green Technology Center (CGTC) is on a mission to reduce food waste in the U.S. Virgin Islands by evaluating the feasibility and methods for reducing organic materials in the waste stream.

The USVI Idea Incubator, a new initiative of the UVI Research and Technology Park (RTPark) is currently accepting applications for its inaugural 15-week program. This new program will provide ambitious Virgin Islanders with big tech ideas and a step-by-step framework for launching and growing a technology company, free of charge.

As part of its 61st Charter Day program, held on March 24, 2023, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Virgin Islands 175th Emancipation Commemoration Committee to collaborate on a series of cultural events and activities during Black History Month and V.I. History Month to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL) is excited to announce its collaboration with the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services for the upcoming Level Up Conference. The event is aimed at engaging 11th and 12th grade students and providing them with the necessary tools to prepare for a successful transition from high school to full participation in their communities. 

Students from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) School of Nursing (SON) are receiving valuable clinical instruction at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Bradford in Massachusetts thanks to financial support from Greenleaf VI, Inc. A partnership between Greenleaf and the nursing school provides expanded learning opportunities and experiences for UVI nursing students. The cost of the trip, room and board is funded by Greenleaf, a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority.
