Facilities
The UVI Ocean Glider Lab has facilities on the the UVI Orville E. Kean campus in St. Thomas, located in the UVI 13D Research & Strategy Innovation Center and the UVI MacLean Marine Science Center. [hyperlinks to each]
The principal Ocean Glider Operations Center is located at the 13D Innovation Center, focused on glider piloting, data management, education, and ‘clean’ maintenance and preparation of the gliders themselves.
Glider deployment and recovery and other maintenance and storage activities are carried out at the MacLean Marine Science Center (MSC) waterfront at Brewer’s Bay. Final glider ballasting operations utilize a saltwater ballast tank located at the MSC.
