Campus Housing - St. Thomas Campus
The University provides short term campus housing for new faculty members, administrative and professional staff transitioning from living off-island to taking up residence in St. Thomas for the purpose of being employed at the University.
Eligibility based on family size:
To be eligible to occupy a one bedroom unit, occupancy may not exceed two persons.
Application for Housing:
A prospective employee that is interested in living on campus must submit a request
at least thirty (30) days before the date of occupancy. The employee’s component head
must be notified of the request. Requests should be submitted to campushousing@live.uvi.edu.
Furnishings and Maintenance:
Campus housing units will be rented furnished with the following appliances refrigerator,
stove with oven, water pump and water heater, air conditioners, dining, bedroom, living
room, patio furnishings, and TV.
Rental Rates:
The rental cost for a one (1) bedroom unit is $1,200.00 per month. This total includes
electricity and cable TV. A security deposit of $500.00 is required.
Guidelines for short-term stays
Requests for use of campus housing to accommodate short-term stays must be submitted
to campushousing@live.uvi.edu at least two (2) weeks prior to the expected date of the guest/consultant(s) arrival.
The request must include the name of occupant(s), date of arrival, length of stay,
name of department they are working for and mailing address and/or contact information
of the occupant(s).
Campus housing apartments may be made available only to person(s) on official business with the University as guests and/or consultants. Guests/consultants will release, indemnify and forever hold harmless the University, its employees and agents of and from any and all claims or law suits arising from or by reason of their use of the unit.
Full rental and deposit payment must be made before a key is issued to the occupant. A key requisition form must be signed by the guest/consultant or agent of the sponsoring department. Keys may be picked up and dropped off from the Physical Plant department, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. In special situations, such as arrivals after 4:30 pm, weekends and holidays, the Security department will be notified of your arrival and an officer will open the unit for you. The occupant can pick up the keys at the Physical Plant department the next working day.
The use of the units is for a minimum of five (5) days up to a maximum of one hundred and sixty (160) days and based on availability.
