The UVI Blackboard Course Management System provides options for managing courses for faculty (i.e. gradebook, online testing, plagiarism prevention tools) and making course materials available to students via the Internet. Blackboard facilitates student communication (i.e. email, discussion boards, viewing of grades) and allows the digital submission of assignments.
If the instructor is using Blackboard, students can find information about courses, such as announcements, course documents, syllabi, presentations, grades or links to other websites. Students can also submit assignments, blogs, tests, exams, journals, etc. Other communication tools are available including email, discussion boards, live chat, wikis and podcasts.
Blackboard accounts are created for faculty when email and domain accounts are set up by Human Resources. You will log in to BlackBoard via myCampus. The system will list all courses for which you have access. Students will be automatically enrolled in each course when they register via Banweb online registration services or the Registrar office. Each course must be made available to provide students with access to the respective course. Faculty, if you are unable to log into the network, Blackboard included, please ensure that you have an active contract with the University of the Virgin Islands. For additional information, please contact the Human Resources office at 340-693-1410. Students, if you are unable to log into the network, Blackboard included, please ensure that you are a registered student. For more information, please contact the Registrar office at 340-693-1160.
The Information Services and Institutional Assessment (IS&IA) provides Blackboard training at the beginning and throughout each semester. Please click here to view and/or register for upcoming training sessions. You may be prompted to request access, which will be granted within a 24-hour period.
