Founded in 1962, UVI is a public, co-ed, land-grant HBCU in the United States Virgin Islands.
The UVI Scholarly and Creative Committee will present a screening of ‘Sankofa’ Friday, February 11, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m. AST.
“Sankofa” follows Mona, a Black African American fashion model on a photoshoot in Cape Coast, Ghana who undergoes a journey back in time to a plantation in North America. There she becomes “Shola”, an enslaved African woman who labors in the master’s house and experiences the horrors of slavery firsthand. To register for the screening click, SANKOFA.
