New USVI Marine Debris Children's Activity Book Available

Are you looking for ways for your kids to learn new things and have fun at the same time?

Members of the Marine Debris Action Plan team have one solution for you: the "Understanding Marine Debris" children's activity book!  Modified from the existing activity book, this new version contains revamped puzzles, brain-teasers, and coloring pages that incorporate information gathered from coastal clean-ups on each island over the last 30 years. The booklet helps children understand the problem of marine debris in ways that relate to our USVI community.

This great educational resource can be downloaded from the VIMAS website:

"You can read the full blog post story at as well as access the USVI Marine Debris book.

The team (comprised of staff and faculty from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service (VIMAS), Virgin Islands Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR), and the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR)) recently modified an existing activity book from the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to make it more relevant for the USVI.
