Dear UVI Faculty and Staff:
As you are aware, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees approved the Administration’s recommendation that we delay the implementation of the on-campus Fall COVID-19 Plan. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the protocol for those who will be engaging directly with the work environment. Since all of our classes, student engagement activities, and meetings will be conducted remotely, many employees will be working from home or other remote locations. However, in order to fulfill our customer service responsibilities and carry out other functions that cannot be done remotely, some individuals will be working on campus. In some instances, this will be daily, but in other situations, it will be based on a staggered schedule developed by the heads of those units. Those who are required to work on campus should commence, or continue, their duties by Monday, August 10, 2020.
In preparation for the start of the impending Fall semester, please find below the Employee COVID-19 Protocol:
In closing, this is a reminder of my annual State of the University Address to be held next Friday, August 14th at 10 am-11 am via Zoom. I look forward to your participation. My office will provide further details under separate cover.
Thank you for all that you do for UVI and I look forward to a successful semester.
Regards,
David Hall
President
UVI will remain open during this temporary interruption of in-person classes. Staff members will continue to follow regular work schedules, and faculty members will continue to present coursework to their students — albeit in a different format. Employees who have health vulnerabilities or who are sick are advised to notify their supervisor and follow guidelines and procedures outlined in the Employee Handbook. Individuals who are sick are reminded to stay home and/or seek medical attention, as necessary, so as not to affect others.
