The University of the Virgin Islands will remain open today, Wednesday, Oct. 4, and continues to monitor storm conditions associated with Tropical Storm Philippe. UVI students and employees are urged to be careful as they traverse to and from the campuses due to the heavy downpours.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) joins the Virgin Islands community in mourning the loss of former Senator Alicia “Chucky” Hansen, an incredibly formidable and influential political figure who made her mark as an 11-term senator in the district of St. Croix.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is addressing false allegations printed in a recent Miami Herald article with a letter to its editor. The false allegations stem from court documents filed by JP Morgan Chase in connection with the Jeffrey Epstein litigation with the V.I. Government. The Miami Herald article was also reproduced by the Virgin Islands Daily News and by national news outlets including Yahoo News.

University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Ambassador, Eunisha Lawrence, will represent the University in her role as Miss UVI 2023-2024 at the 38th Annual National Black College Queens Competition in Atlanta, Ga. as part of the Alumni Hall of Fame weekend from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1.

On Sunday, Oct. 15, World Food Day will be observed from noon to 6 p.m. on the grounds of the University of the Virgin Islands’ Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.  The day will kick-off with a formal opening ceremony and continue with educational workshops, a food vendor’s court, a farmers' market, demonstrations, a petting zoo, entertainment, a “House of CANs” competition, and distribution of free vegetable seedlings. 

The Caribbean Green Technology Center (CGTC) of the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and the VI Energy Office (VIEO) invite the public to the second Annual VI Energy and Sustainability Fair at the Orville E. Kean Campus’ Elridge Blake Sports and Fitness Center on St. Thomas on Saturday, Oct. 28. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Thanks to a recent donation of iMac computers from the AROC Foundation, students at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) have increased access to iMac computers, which are essential to programming apps for the iOS operating system and other Apple programs.
