Members of the media are invited to cover and photograph the University of the Virgin Islands Fall 2024 launch of its Essential Needs Pantry and listen in on Power Panel Discussions on Nov. 13, and 14, on the University’s campuses on St. Thomas and St. Croix, respectively.

University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) students, faculty and staff joined students from the U.S. Territories of Guam and Puerto Rico at the National Diversity in STEM (NDiSTEM) Conference in Phoenix, Arizona held Oct. 31 – Nov 2. Hosted by the Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics & Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), the event is the largest multidisciplinary and multicultural STEM diversity conference in the U.S.
UVI Mourns the Passing of Beloved Student

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) mourns the passing of Kareem L. Pinney, 17, who was tragically killed on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, in the early morning hours. Pinney was a freshman residing on campus enrolled in classes that would have led to a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics from the College of Science and Mathematics. 
Reichhold Center & UVI President Host Free Concert Saturday

As part of the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) celebration of Homecoming 2024, the Reichhold Center of the Arts (RCA) and UVI President, Dr. Safiya George, invite the public to “Sessions on the Floor,” a free musical concert on Saturday, Nov. 2. The concert is one of the final events in a weeklong schedule of activities planned on both campuses to engage alumni, students, faculty, staff and the VI community with the University.

The Virgin Islands Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (VI-EPSCoR) is thrilled to announce its upcoming annual conference, "Creating an Impactful Virgin Islands Research Ecosystem." The event will take place on Nov. 7-8, 2024, and will bring together researchers, students, and community members to share the significant lessons, discoveries, and research conducted during the final year of the U.S. National Science Foundation (US –NSF) grant Ridge to Reef: Processes and Interdependent Drivers of Small Island Resilience (R2R).

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is pleased to announce that it has received a $30,000 gift from Thriving Charities Advocates (TCA), a professional fundraising organization and Economic Development Commission beneficiary on St. Thomas. The gift will be used to support the University’s music program, specifically to enhance the recording capabilities of UVI’s recording studio.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) in partnership with 13D Research & Strategy recently launched a unique opportunity for students and members of the Virgin Islands community to receive financial support for starting or growing their businesses. By providing direct financial assistance, the 13D Milestone Funding Initiative will empower selected applicants to achieve key milestones in their entrepreneurial journey.

In the regular session of its quarterly meeting on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the University’s 2025 fundraising goal of $5 million, an alumni giving rate of 10 percent, and a Board of Trustees and President’s Cabinet giving rate of 100 percent.
