Cooks, volunteers, supporters, and fun seekers partied with a purpose at the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Afternoon on the Green fundraiser last month to raise money for college scholarships. Two St. Thomas high school students were awarded scholarships to attend UVI and more than a dozen cooks were recognized for their popular food entries.

The University of the Virgin Islands will bestow honorary degrees on Theron Thomas and Timothy Thomas, recording industry celebrities known professionally as “Rock City,” and Virgin Islands Election System Supervisor Caroline Fawkes, an aviation trailblazer, at UVI’s 60th Commencement Ceremonies on May 9, and 10, at its St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses, respectively.

The reception start time is 2 p.m. and the program portion begins at 3 p.m. Students are being recognized for Fall and Spring 2023.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is honored to announce that Keisha Lance Bottoms, former mayor of Atlanta, who previously served as senior advisor and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, will serve as the keynote speaker at UVI’s 60th Commencement Ceremonies. The event will take place on May 9, on the Orville E. Kean Campus on St. Thomas and on May 10, on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix. Both ceremonies will commence at 1 p.m.

In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of Brown versus Board of Education, the landmark U.S. Superior Court decision that made racial segregation illegal in public schools, the University of the Virgin Islands' College of Liberal Arts and Social Science (UVI CLASS,) will host a Fireside Chat to discuss this ruling on Wednesday, April 10, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Evans Center Suite 401 (EVC401- Little Theatre) on UVI’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

After a fun filled evening of pageantry and performances, LaMonee Morris, a University of the Virgin Islands psychology major, was crowned Miss UVI 2024 on Saturday, April 6, in the Cafetorium on the University’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is pleased to announce that United States Senator Raphael Warnock will be the guest speaker at a special convocation on Wednesday, April 3, at 1 p.m. in the Elridge Wilburn Blake Sports and Fitness Center on UVI's Orville E. The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) men’s and women’s track and field teams opened up their 2024 season this past weekend at the University of Central Florida’s “Knight Invite”. They competed in the two-day event among NCAA Division I and II institutions including nationally recognized powerhouse universities such as Clemson, Rutgers, Yale, and Penn State.
