As part of its 61st Charter Day program, held on March 24, 2023, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Virgin Islands 175th Emancipation Commemoration Committee to collaborate on a series of cultural events and activities during Black History Month and V.I. History Month to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

The University of the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence in Leadership and Learning (UVI CELL) is excited to announce its collaboration with the Virgin Islands Department of Education and the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services for the upcoming Level Up Conference. The event is aimed at engaging 11th and 12th grade students and providing them with the necessary tools to prepare for a successful transition from high school to full participation in their communities.

Students from the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) School of Nursing (SON) are receiving valuable clinical instruction at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital-Bradford in Massachusetts thanks to financial support from Greenleaf VI, Inc. A partnership between Greenleaf and the nursing school provides expanded learning opportunities and experiences for UVI nursing students. The cost of the trip, room and board is funded by Greenleaf, a member of the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority.

Cooks, volunteers, supporters, and fun seekers, numbered in the thousands, turned out at the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) Afternoon on the Green fundraiser on Sunday, March 19, 2023, on St. Thomas to raise money for college scholarships. The 31st annual event drew crowds of people who partied with a purpose, danced to live music, played interactive games in the Kid Zone, explored UVI programs, and sampled a variety of dishes donated by local cooks and chefs.

Events kick off on Friday, March 17, 2023, with a Charter Day Walk/Run on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix and conclude with a Charter Day ceremony on Friday, March 24, 2023, featuring VI Senate President Novelle E. Francis, Jr. as the keynote speaker.

The University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) annual “friendraiser” event, Afternoon on the Green, is back in person on Sunday, March 19, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Herman E. Moore Golf Course on St. Thomas. Live entertainment and an array of activities promise something for everyone at this year’s event themed “A Burst of Culture, Fun & Cuisine at Afternoon on the Green 2023”.
