The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) mourns the passing of Kareem L. Pinney, 17, who was tragically killed on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, in the early morning hours. Pinney was a freshman residing on campus enrolled in classes that would have led to a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Mathematics from the College of Science and Mathematics. 

As part of the University of the Virgin Islands’ (UVI) celebration of Homecoming 2024, the Reichhold Center of the Arts (RCA) and UVI President, Dr. Safiya George, invite the public to “Sessions on the Floor,” a free musical concert on Saturday, Nov. 2. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the University’s 2025 fundraising goal of $5 million, an alumni giving rate of 10 percent, and a Board of Trustees and President’s Cabinet giving rate of 100 percent.
