UVI Launches New Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) has announced the launch of its first allied health program—the Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) Certificate Program—to begin in the Spring 2026 semester. Offered through the School of Education, this two-year online program will prepare students to support licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) in delivering high-quality, supervised therapy services in educational and clinical settings across the region.

The University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) has received a "notice of award" from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to establish the Virgin Islands Center for Autonomous Research (VICAR), advancing marine research and strengthening the local STEM workforce. The notice of award provides the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) with $7 million in funding over five years through the U.S. National Science Foundation’s (NSF) EPSCoR ERISE program.
