The Virgin Islands Small Business Development Center (VI-SBDC) and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will honor small businesses during Virgin Islands Small Business Week from June 1 through 7.

The University of the Virgin Islands Cooperative Extension Service (UVI-CES) will host the 7th Caribbean Beekeeping Congress and the 2nd Caribbean Beekeeping College from May 26 to 30, on the University’s Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix.

The director of UVI’s Center for Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVICELL) was recently presented with a Patriot Award by the office of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), which recognizes extraordinary support of employees serving in the Virgin Islands’ Guard and Reserve.

More than 300 degrees will be awarded by the University of the Virgin Islands during Commencement Ceremonies scheduled for May 17 and 18, on the St. Thomas Campus and on the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix, respectively.

The University of the Virgin Islands, with support from a substantial federal grant, is developing and implementing a Substance Abuse and HIV Prevention Program with the goal of reducing drug use and abuse, and preventing the transmission of HIV infections among college students and other young adults in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

At 11 a.m. on Friday, April 25, at Government House on St. Thomas, the University of the Virgin Islands will announce a major gift by Dr. Chirinjeev Kathuria, chairman of New Generation Power (NGP), for the development of a territory-wide medical school.

Over 200 agriculturists, representing 22 countries will converge on St. Thomas, from July 6-11, at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa for the Caribbean Food Crops Society’s (CFCS) 50th annual meeting to discuss production, marketing and policy issues affecting agriculture in the Caribbean.
